Upon your arrival at Indore Railway station/ Airport, you’ll be greeted by our tour representative, who then drives you to Ujjain. The holy city of Ujjain set along the banks of sacred River Kshipra is considered highly auspicious for the Hindus. The city is counted as one among the ‘Sapta Puris’ or the ‘seven sacred sites of Hinduism’. Ujjain makes the venue for Kumbh Mela once in every 12 years. On reaching Ujjain, check into the hotel, freshen up, and later proceed to visit the Mahakaleshwar Lord Shiva Temple in Ujjain. The architectural beauty of the temple and the highly ornate spires of the Temple will leave you spell bound. According to myths, Lord Shiva here assumed the form of Mahakaal to destroy a demon called Dooshan and to offer respite to his devotees from the clutches of Dooshan. Lord Shiva thereafter came to reside at that place to fulfill the wishes of his devotees. The placing of the idol is quite unique in this temple; this is the only place where you get to see a south-facing idol of Lord Shiva. Apart from being a Lord Shiva temple, Mahakaleshwar is also a revered Shakti Peeth as Goddess Shakti’s or Mahakali’s upper lip is said to have fallen at this place. After Darshan at Mahakaleshwar, we proceed to visit some other important attractions in Ujjain such as Chintaman Ganesh Temple, Kal Bhairav temple, Ved Shala and Kaliadeh Palace. Back to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
The next day early in the morning, take part in the morning Aarti at the Mahakaleshwar temple and later leave for a Darshan at the Omkareshwar temple; another important Jyotirlingam of Lord Shiva. The Temple stands upon a unique Om Shaped island on the River Narmada. The island is known by the name of Mandhata or Shivapuri. As per legend, right at this spot lord Shiva blessed Mount Vindhya to turn into the region’s greatest mountain. Also, it is said that Lord Shiva made two parts to his lingam here. One part resides at Omkareshwar and the other part resides at Mamleshwar which is located on River Narmada’s opposite bank. After Puja and Darshan at the Omkareshwar Temple, we return to Indore and check into hotel for dinner and night stay.
