Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirling, dedicated to Lord Shiva is located on the bank of the holy River Narmada, 80 km from Indore. The river divides into two branches here naturally forming an island called Mandhata or Shivpuri; it's shape is like that of the Om of Hinduism.
The main temple is in North Indian architectural style with tall shikhars. The sanctum sanctorum appears to be a smaller structure; its top has been constructed by many stone slabs. Marvel at the massive sabha mandapa which is supported by forty columns and is about 18 ft high.
There are five shrines dedicated to various deities in the complex; these are Shree Omkareshwar, Shree Mahakaleshwar, Shree Siddhanath, Shree Gupteshwar, and Dhwajdhari Shikhar Devta respectively from lowest to the top.
