BASUKINATH TEMPLE

Basukinath temple is considered to be the holy place of Baba Bhole Nath. This temple is situated in Jarmundi block of Dumka district in Jharkhand. The history of Basukinath temple is also linked to Sagar Manthan. It is said that during Sagar Manthan, Vasuki Naga was used as the medium to churn the mountain. It was this Vasuki Nag who worshiped Lord Shiva at this place. This is the reason why Lord Shiva present here is called Basukinath. Here the temples of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati have been built facing each other. During the opening of the gate, devotees are asked to move away from the gate, as it is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati meet each other at this time. This temple is about 150 years old.
