MAIHAR TEMPLE
The name Maihar is created from two words 'Mai' (Mother) and 'Har' (Necklace). History says, once Bhagwan Shiv Ji while carrying the body of Mata Sati, the Necklace (Har) of Mata Sati fell in Maihar hence the name Maihar. A great number of devotees bring their children to commencing their education and studies. During the Navaratri festival days, it is believed Mata Sharadambika appears to her devotees as a Brahmin, Maheshwari, Gourami, Vaishnavi, Indrani, Chamundeeswari and Rajalakshmi.
